Emergency Food Program

The emergency food program has been helping families in need of emergency food for many years. This program is intended to help those families who are in need of emergency food. Each month the Madera County Food Bank assists approximately 1,800 persons.

A family who is in need of emergency food can call our Food Assistance number and our friendly staff can take their name and information and get them connected with emergency food once a month. This is a no-cost program.

The emergency food that the Madera County Food Bank assists clients with is also known as an emergency food box. Each emergency food box consists of:

Senior Nutrition and Produce Program (SNAPP)

SNAPP is open to any person 55 years old or older. From April through October we provide fresh fruits and vegetables for a shared maintenance fee of $4.00 per week. Distributions are every Thursday between 7am and 9:00am (weather permitting) at Lions Town & Country Park on the Howard Road side of the park.

Applications are available on site.

The Madera County Food Bank in partnership with The City of Madera Parks & Recreation Department is proud to bring this program to the senior citizens of Madera County.

Senior Brown Bag Program

Our Brown Bag Program is for seniors 55 years and older to help them stretch their monthly food budget. Each month these seniors receive a brown bag with a variety of grocery items available (canned foods, dry goods and fresh produce). Distribution locations are determined either by residence of each senior or the location of their choice. The cost is $36.00 a year. These funds go toward the program expenses (freight charges, food costs and warehousing).

*No restrictions on monthly income to qualify.

Community Assistance Program (CAP)

CAP is a monthly distribution of FREE fresh produce and/or products to the citizens of Madera. Distributions are on the third or fourth Friday of each month – locations change from month to month.

The Madera County Food Bank in partnership with California Emergency Food Link and The City of Madera Parks & Recreation bring this program to all citizens of Madera County.

We extend an invitation to any agency that may want to distribute information to join us on these dates.

Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP)

EFAP is a California Department of Social Services program and was established to supplement the nutritional needs of eligible individuals and households. Distributions are made through food banks located throughout the State of California. Any qualifying individual or household receives a box of food. This is a NO COST program.
