UNITED WAY FRESNO AND MADERA COUNTIES ANNOUNCES MATCHING GIFT CAMPAIGN FOR MADERA COUNTY FOOD BANK
FRESNO, CA (5/20/20) – United Way Fresno and Madera Counties is excited to announce a matching gift challenge to benefit the Madera County Food Bank. From now through July 15 th , friends and supporters of the food bank have the opportunity to double their gift by participating in this special campaign. The local United Way chapter will match donations up to $50,000. They are calling on local businesses and community leaders to lead the call to give.
“The Madera County Food Bank has been a vital community resource since its inception in 2009, but during this time of global pandemic their services are more valuable than ever,” says United Way Fresno and Madera CEO and President, Lindsay Callahan. “The need for basic necessities is unprecedented right now; many people who have never needed assistance are finding themselves visiting the food bank for the first time. We encourage community leaders to rise to the occasion and answer our call to Live United. There is no better time to give.”
The American Petroleum and Convenience Store Association (APCA) is one organization who has already taken advantage of the matching campaign. APCA has pledged $20,500 to the food bank, an effort which will ultimately result in a $41,000 gift.
In addition to direct assistance for local families, the food bank also needs funding for a new forklift, truck repairs, and other operational upgrades.
