Mike Martinez never thought he would need assistance when he came to us at Madera County Food Bank. But Mike is not alone. The economic devastation brought on by the pandemic has led to enormous food insecurities across Madera County. Since the pandemic, we’ve serviced 95,000 individuals a month, distributing up to 500,000 pounds of food a month. That’s a huge jump compared to our regular numbers of 45,000 individuals a month and distributing 275,000 pounds of food a month.

It was tough to make ends meet, and we needed groceries. We heard about the Madera County Food Bank through the church, as they were giving food to the community. The church told us they get resources from the food bank, so we turned to them, and they helped us out.
Madera County Food Bank provided my family and me with all the essentials to make a meal for a week and gave generously. They asked no questions, no name, no blame, whatever situation; they just helped us with open arms. After receiving help, I’m more appreciative of the food bank’s resources to help the needy or people just struggling to make ends meet. If I find out any of my loved ones, friends, or anyone needing help, I will encourage them to go to the Madera County Food Bank because they have the resources to help them and not to feel embarrassed.
Not only has Madera County Food Bank helped my family once, they’ve helped us twice over the last years, and they’ve been there for my family, and I sincerely appreciate them.
